Staser Labs Return & Refund Policy

Last updated: 5/26

Thank you for supporting Staser Labs.  We specialize in sourcing, restoring, and modifying classic hardware. Because vintage electronics require care and specific operating conditions, we want to ensure you have a fair opportunity to test your gear while keeping our return process transparent.

1. The Testing Window (Return Window)

We offer a 14-day testing and return window. You have 14 days from the date your package is marked as "delivered" to unbox, inspect, test, and request a return.

2. Testing & Evaluation Criteria

We understand that you need to turn on and use a piece of retro gear to ensure it functions perfectly. Brief, normal product usage to test functionality is fully permitted. However, to qualify for a standard return, the item must meet the following conditions:

  • No Internal Modifications: The item must not be opened, desoldered, repaired, or altered internally by the customer.
  • Cosmetic Condition: The item must be returned in the exact cosmetic condition it was received, free of new scratches, cracks, liquid exposure, or shell damage.
  • Completeness: You must return everything in the product packaging it was receive in with everything included in the original shipment, including packaging materials, cables, custom modifications, original/reproduction boxes, and documentation.

Warranty Void Notice: All units are documented internally prior to shipping. Opening the console casing or breaking any internal/external security seals without prior approval voids eligibility for a standard return or defect-based refund.

3. Discovering Defective Items or Component Failure

Retro electronics contain vintage components that can occasionally experience failure despite rigorous testing. If you discover a defect, performance issue, or if the item behaves unexpectedly during your testing window:

  1. Stop using the device immediately.
  2. Contact us at admin@staserlabs.com with your order number.
  3. Provide a brief description of the issue, along with clear photos or a short video clip showing the defect in action (e.g., screen artifacts, audio loss, power cycling issues).

Our Resolution Process for Defects: If a defect is confirmed within your testing window, we will provide a prepaid return shipping label. Once the item is received and inspected, we will offer you the choice of:

  • A full refund back to your original payment method.
  • A free repair or replacement of the failed component (subject to parts availability).

4. Change-of-Mind Returns (Restocking Fee Option)

If you test the item, find that it functions perfectly to specification, but simply decide you no longer want it:

  • Return shipping costs are the responsibility of the buyer.
  • A 10% restocking fee will be deducted from your final refund to cover our bench time, re-testing, and re-listing costs.

5. How to Initiate a Return

To start a return or report a defect, email us at admin@staserlabs.com.

Please do not ship items back without initiating a request first; unauthorized returns cannot be tracked or processed. Once your return is approved, we will provide the appropriate return shipping instructions.

6. Refunds and Bench Inspection

Once your return arrives at our lab, it will undergo a bench inspection to verify the reported defect and ensure internal components match our shipping logs.

  • Timeline: Please allow up to 5 business days for inspection.
  • Approval: If approved, your refund will be processed immediately. It typically takes 5–10 business days for the funds to clear back onto your original payment method, depending on your bank.
